While working as a news anchor in Memphis, Hollywood movie producer Michael Hausman saw her on TV and cast her as a reporter in the motion picture, "The People vs. Larry Flynt." She also played a news anchor in the Tom Hanks film, "Cast Away."

Michelle Robinson McKissack is the correspondent for nextTV, a new weekly business and lifestyle TV show launching on FOX Chicago in February 2009. Michelle is an accomplished journalist with an exceptional broadcasting career. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, she moved to the Chicago area to study journalism and Urban Studies. She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

For the last 15 years, Michelle has served as a television news anchor, reporter and program host in Memphis, Chicago, Peoria and Washington, D.C. Michelle has also taught journalism as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University and the University of Memphis.

"Michelle is also a documentary producer. Her latest film, "Sounds of a Miracle," has received much acclaim at film festivals across the country including the Los Angeles International Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Palm Beach Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival. Michelle hosted and co-produced "A Woman and Her Music," a PBS-broadcast documentary about her mother, composer Earnestine Rodgers Robinson. She has also performed dramatic narrations as part of her mother's oratorios, "The Crucifixion" at Carnegie Hall and of "The Nativity" in Prague with the Czech National Symphony.

Michelle is an avid community volunteer in Memphis, where she is based. She is currently on the board of directors for the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and immediate past presidents of the Downtown Elementary School PTA and Grace-St. Luke’s School PDO Advisory Board. She also holds the title of Mrs. West Tennessee 2007. Michelle is married to John P. McKissack and they have three sons, Peter, James and John.
